State police: Warwick girl, 19, killed in crash

WARWICK, R.I. -

A 19-year-old Warwick girl was killed after the car she was driving struck a guardrail on Route 37 near the 295 North off-ramp, state police said Thursday.

The accident happened at 11:09 p.m. Wednesday. The girl was identified as Brianna Higgins.

Police said Cranston emergency crews took Higgins to Rhode Island Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Police said Higgins was the only person in the car, and she wasn't wearing a seatbelt.

The cause of the crash was not immediately known.
