SCITUATE, R.I. -

A 55-year-old man was killed Thursday after police said the motorcycle he was riding struck a mail truck.

Police identified the victim as Richard Bailey, 55, of Glocester.

Police said the accident happened on Route 115. According to police, the mail truck was taking a left onto Route 6 when the motorcycle collided with the truck.

Bailey was transported to Rhode Island Hospital where he later died. It was not immediately known if he was wearing a helmet.

The driver of the mail truck was also taken to the hospital for observation.

No charges have been filed.
