WESTERLY, R.I. -

Four teens are in the hospital after crashing into a telephone pole, said Westerly Police Chief Edward St. Clair.

The accident happened at about 3 a.m. Wednesday at a dangerous s-curve on Potter Hill Road.

A 15-year-old was driving a 2014 Honda CR-V when it slammed into a telephone poll splitting it, he said.

Three of the teens were taken to Westerly Hospital treated and released said St. Clair. The fourth teen was taken to Hasbro Children's Hospital with non-life threatening injuries and was still hospitalized Wednesday afternoon.

There were no signs of alcohol in the vehicle. The driver is expected to be charged with driving without a license, St. Clair said.

More motor vehicle charges could follow as the investigation continues. The owner of the car was not in the vehicle during the crash and that is also being investigated according to police.
