CRANSTON, R.I. -

According to a spokesperson from National Grid, over 2,500 Johnston, Cranston and Providence residents are without power Monday evening after three high-powered tension lines were down at the intersection of Atwood Ave and Central Ave in Johnston.

Fire crews responded to the scene around 9:30 p.m. Many nearby the scene noticed a flash of different colors in the sky.

National Grid expects power to be restored by 12:00 a.m., midnight.

National Grid says the cause of the outage and lines down will be investigated. Their main priority is getting power restored to homes and area businesses.
