Bristol man accused of hiding camera at gym

Posted: Updated:

A Bristol man is accused of hiding a video camera in the women's locker room of a gym in Seekonk.

Seekonk police said Tuesday that 55-year-old Mark McVay will face charges of photo, videotaping or electronic surveilling and attempt to commit a crime, both misdemeanors. An arraignment date has not been set.

A man who said he was McVay told NBC 10 by phone that it was "a stupid joke that went bad."

The camera was found June 25 in the women's locker room of a 24-hour Planet Fitness gym on Route 44. Police said the suspect recorded himself placing the camera and that employees identified him as a member of the gym.

Police said anyone with additional information about the camera should call them because it may not be an isolated incident.
