Fairhaven police said a 27-year-old man stabbed his parents Monday morning in what they called a domestic violence incident.

Police charged Peter Bergeron with two counts of domestic assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, two counts of assault with intent to murder and mayhem. He was ordered held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing.

The names of the victims were not immediately released.

"This one was incredibly violent," said Sgt. Kevin Kobza, who was one of the officers who responded to the scene. "There was a weapon involved. It was an edged weapon, which it's up close and personal."

Police said a woman with a stab wound to the neck sought help at about 9:15 a.m. at the school administration building at 128 Washington St., which is next door to where the stabbings happened. Police said they found the woman's husband and their son at the home at 126 Washington St.

"As far as the house was concerned, there was a considerable amount of blood," Kobza said. "Numerous blood trails throughout the premises itself."

The stabbing victims were taken to St. Luke's Hospital for treatment. Peter Bergeron was treated for minor injuries.

Police did not comment on a motive.
