A 78-year-old woman died at Rhode Island Hospital on Tuesday after she was hit by a car in a parking lot.

The accident happened at about 6 p.m. in the parking lot of a CVS store on Manton Avenue in Providence.

Police told NBC 10 the car was coming through the lot and taking a left into a parking space, when the driver struck the woman.

It's not believed the driver was traveling very fast. Police said the woman suffered a head injury.
