Two Rhode Island men are accused of trying to steal copper from a state police telecommunications tower in Connecticut.

The suspects, John Fahey, 25, of Burrillville, and Jeffrey Joergensen, 24, of Glocester are facing numerous charges, including attempted larceny and trespassing.

State police responded to the tower in North Stonington when an alarm went off.

When they arrived, the suspects told them they worked for a communications company.

Authorities said there was about $10,000 in damage to the tower.
