SWANSEA, Mass. -

A Swansea man was arraigned in Fall River District Court on Tuesday after being charged with rape and assaulting a child under the age of 14.

Police said 69-year-old Lawrence Lamphier was arrested at his home on Picard Court on Monday. He was released after posting $10,000 bail.

Police said the victims were 6-years-old and 9-years-old.

Prosecutors said the victims are known to Lamphier.

Police have not released details due to the nature of the crime.

Neighbors told NBC 10 they were surprised to hear about what happened, and hadn't noticed anything suspicious at the house.
