NEWPORT, R.I. - America’s oldest commercial vessel, the historic whale-ship Charles W. Morgan, landed in Newport Sunday evening.

The Morgan cast off from City Pier in New London, Conn., at 9:15 a.m. It was then towed up Fisher’s Island Sound and through Watch Hill Passage. The ship arrived in the Newport harbor and was tied up at Fort Adams at 6 p.m.

Today was the Morgan’s first sailing voyage since 1921.
