SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. -

Four people were charged under the state's social host law following an underage drinking party at a rented house in South Kingstown.

Police were called to a house on Kingstown Road at about 11 p.m. Friday in response to call of a loud party.

When police arrived, officers saw between 40 to 60 people at the house and a party scene that was described as "chaotic". Police said about two dozen people were between the ages of 18 and 20.

Police found underage people in possession of alcoholic beverages, and alcohol strewn about the house.

Police said people tried to lock the doors to prevent them from entering the home, and two people tried to hide by locking themselves in bedrooms.

Anthony Conte, 19, of North Smithfield, Aspen Burke, 20, of Kennebunk, Maine, William D'Amico, 19, of Cranston, and Kelley Fox, 20, of Sandwich, Massachusetts, were charged with purchase or procurement of alcohol for a minor.

Layne Burke, 18, of East Greenwich, was charged with possession of an alcoholic beverage by a minor.
