ATTLEBORO, Mass. -

An Attleboro man startled his neighbors over the weekend when he fired a shotgun in an attempt to get rid of a woodchuck, police said.

Police were called to George Street after receiving report of a man in his yard with a shotgun.

Officers closed off access to the road while they investigated.

Police said the man was having problems with a woodchuck and fired his gun to get rid of it.

According to police, the man had a license to carry the gun, but he received a ticket for firing a weapon within 500 feet of his house.
