North Kingstown police officers, Brian Kanaczet and Scott Cline go back 11 years.
"I was actually his field training officer," Kanaczet said.
Over the years, they've shared a lot of laughs. A lot of landmark moments.
When Scott got married seven years ago, Brian was there.
And when Scott's daughter Jenna was born a year later, "she was stillborn and Women and Infants had a great staff that got her back for us."
Jenna spent a month in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the hospital.
"These guys worked a whole month of shifts for me, never asked for anything back. I even had a former chief of mine that was here offered me a month's worth of his vacation to stay home when my daughter was discharged from the hospital," Scott said.
"The camaraderie that we share with this profession is like no other," Kanaczet said.
Jamie and Scott Cline knew when their daughter was discharged she had only one kidney which wasn't fully functional.
The Clines eventually knew their daughter would need a kidney transplant but she was doing well, very active, and involved in cheerleading. They thought it would be years down the road.
Until the Clines were told on Dec. 26 that their daughter needed a kidney transplant.
It was determined that Jamie Cline was a match in March. And that's when Brian decided to hold a fundraiser.
"When we started putting this on social media, word of mouth, we had people call that don't even know Scott, don't even know me, don't know Jenna, and just said, 'Hey, what can I do to help.' To me, that's what blew me away," Kanaczet said.
The fundraiser at the Quonset Club in North Kingstown will be held at 6 p.m. Friday.
"These guys, at times I'm speechless because they did so much for me when my daughter was born," Scott said.
Jenna is excited about getting her new kidney.
"Every time we go to the doctor, she's like, 'When am I getting my kidney? Am I getting my kidney today?" Scott Cline said.
Jenna's transplant is scheduled for June 16.
