Wakefield man pleads guilty to mail fraud

Posted: Updated:

A Wakefield man will be sentenced in September for defrauding Sears out of more than $150,000.

Joseph Kilty, 53, admitted he deposited the money into his own accounts, rather than the retailer's account.

Kilty operated a Sears Hometown Outlet in Middletown.

He told officials he created false documents, to appear as if the correct deposits were made. He also mailed two counterfeit bank checks to the Sears Hometown and Outlet office.

Officials allowed Kilty to plead guilty to mail fraud.
