Calling hours Friday for court officer struck by RIPTA bus

Family and friends will pay their respects Friday to court security officer and former police Lt. Frank McKnight .

Frank McKnight worked as a federal court security officer and was struck last week while crossing Washington Street in downtown Providence.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Fagan-Quinn Funeral Home, 825 Boston Neck Road, North Kingstown. A law enforcement walk-through will precede public calling hours beginning at 3 p.m.

Funeral services and a celebration of Officer McKnight’s life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, 275 Tower Hill Road, North Kingstown. Law enforcement will gather at the funeral home at 8:30 a.m. in preparation for a formal procession to the church.

McKnight's family said his wish to donate his organs has been fulfilled.

McKnight's death prompted a call for making Kennedy Plaza safer for pedestrians.
