Officials: recalled products were sold in Newport

NEWPORT, R.I. - Rhode Island health officials are warning residents not to consume three products containing sprouted chia seed powder because of possible salmonella contamination.

The Department of Health says the recalled products were made by Navitas Naturals and were sold in the state at the A Market natural foods store in Newport.

There have been no illnesses reported in the state so far.

Products covered under the recall include an 8-ounce packages of Navitas Naturals Organic Sprouted Chia Powder, with expiration dates ranging from April 30, 2015 through Sept. 5, 2015.

Others include 8-ounce packages of Navitas Naturals Omega Blend Sprouted Smoothie Mix, with expiration dates ranging from July 29, 2015 through Sept. 19, 2015.

The other recalled products are 8-ounce packages Williams-Sonoma Omega 3 Smoothie Mixer, with expiration dates ranging from Sept. 12, 2015 through Oct. 2, 2015.
