Posted: Updated:
PROVIDENCE - The TV campaign has begun in this year's race for Rhode Island governor, as the candidates are airing the first ads of the race.

Democrat Gina Raimondo's campaign says a 60-second ad that focuses on her father will start airing Wednesday. Her father, Joe, passed away on May 16 at age 87.

The ad includes footage of Raimondo and her father spending time together with their family at Christmas, and driving to the Bulova Watch factory, where he lost his job when it moved overseas.

Her campaign says they're spending more than $100,000 on the ad per week.

Republican Allan Fung has launched a TV ad campaign with a 30-second ad that boasts of his credentials as mayor of Cranston. The ad calls him a proven reformer.
