Police fear retaliation in Providence killing

Providence police said they fear retaliation in a shooting that left a man dead and his sister seriously injured.

Police said 20-year-old Davon Taylor and his 15-year-old sister, Destiny, were shot at about 4 p.m. on Wendell Street in the city's West End.

Family members said the Taylors were going to pick up a child a day care.

Police said they believe Davon Taylor was targeted and that his sister happened to be in the wrong place at wrong time. They said they will increase patrols for fear of retaliation in the neighborhood.

Destiny Taylor was being treated at Hasbro Children's Hospital for a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

There have been no arrests.

National Grid said it has postponed work it was doing in the area because it is now a crime scene.
