Governor Lincoln Chafee announced Tuesday his nomination of Mark J. Susa of Warwick for the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority. He fills the seat vacated by Anna Liebenow. Governor Chafee also reappointed Warwick Mayor Scott Avedisian, Stephen Durkee, Margaret Holland McDuff and Maureen Martin.
“Mark has many years of experience as a certified travel trainer. As a leader in the field, he will bring to RIPTA valuable insight, perspective and expertise,” Governor Chafee said. “I thank Anna Liebenow for her service to the State of Rhode Island and being a valuable member of the Transit Authority.”
Susa is currently CEO and lead trainer of Accessing Community Transportation, Inc. ACT was formed with technical assistance from Rhode Island’s Office of Rehabilitation Services and teaches people with disabilities how to use public transit independently.
The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority is charged with providing mass transit service to nearly all of the cities and towns within the State of Rhode Island. An eight member Board of Directors governs the Authority.
