BOSTON - Massachusetts Department of Transportation officials say the "Use Yah Blinkah" sign was no accident. In fact, they're using the sign in hopes of getting more attention from drivers to actually use directional signals when changing lanes.
According to a DOT spokesperson, "We knew people would be out on the road, thinking about traveling and we thought it would be a fresh idea to get people's attention."
Some believe it may be getting too much attention, as drivers are becoming distracted while approaching to take pictures of the sign, causing them to cross in and out of traffic lanes.
The DOT says they are looking for new, fresh ideas to get the attention of drivers, increase awareness and keep the roadways safe.
