Driver pleads no contest in fatal DUI

A man accused of driving drunk in a car crash that killed his girlfriend pleaded no contest Tuesday to charges of driving to endanger, death resulting and driving under the influence, death resulting.

Warwick police said Brandon Borge led them on a high-speed chase before he crashed into a concrete wall in Cranston on April 1, 2012.

Barbara Ellis, 34, of Attleboro, was trapped inside the vehicle and died at the scene. Borge's legs were severed. 

Borge expressed condolences to the Ellis's family.  He said he had no memory of the crash.

Borge evaded prosecution for more than a year. He was found living in Fall River after the I-Team started asking questions about why he hadn't been arrested.

Prosecutors asked for a sentence of not more than 10 years. A sentencing hearing was scheduled for July 8.
