Posted: Updated:

A 29-year-old Greenville man is accused of illegally growing pot in his basement.

Smithfield police said they arrested Anthony Rubino at his Sprague Street home last week after months of surveillance.

Armed with a search warrant, detectives seized 47 marijuana plants, growing supplies, an assault rifle, a handgun, ammunition and $2,190 in cash.

Rubino was charged with unlawful cultivation of marijuana, possession with intent to deliver marijuana, and two counts of possession of a firearm while committing a controlled substance crime.

A judge set bail at $20,000 with surety. Rubino's next court appearance was scheduled for June 26.
