Donna Thompson said her son, Wayne, has an extensive medical history.
"(He has) a tumor on his spine, hydrocephalus on the brain, scoliosis. (He has) hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, hypertension of the liver," Thompson said.
She said Wayne's always dreamed about riding a bike. She said his physical therapist donated a $7,000 specially-made tricycle that supports Wayne's scoliosis.
However, on Monday, the tricycle was stolen from the boy's uncle's house on Tanner Street in Providence.
Thompson said she came by the house looking for clues Thursday and discovered that not only was it stolen, the tricycle was taken apart.
Thompson said she's hoping the public can help. But in the meantime she has a message for whoever might have taken it.
"Shame on you. Shame, shame, shame on you," she said.
Thompson said she can't afford to replace it and just wants her son to feel normal. As it turns out, that's all Wayne is hoping too.
"(I just want) to ride the bike and be around other kids," he said.
