DARTMOUTH, Mass. -

The campus community at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth paid respects Wednesday to the three people killed in the Boston Marathon bombing.

A moment of silence was observed during a vigil at the campus bell tower at noon. Bad weather postponed the event from Tuesday, the first anniversary of the attack.

Dozens gathered to remember those lost and to send messages of support to the survivors.

"To them and to the 260 others who were injured and maimed and who continue on their long struggle to recovery, we are here to convey our empathy, our support and our prayers," Chancellor Divina Grossman said.

Bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was a student at UMass Dartmouth. The campus was evacuated and searched in the days after the bombings.
