PAWTUCKET, R.I. -

A man wanted in connection with a Christmas Eve killing in Pawtucket has been ordered held without bail, a day after he was arrested in Maine.

U.S. Marshals and Pawtucket police tracked down 20-year-old Daquan Watts in Lewiston, Maine on Wednesday and took him back to Rhode Island to face a murder charge.

Authorities said Watts shot 21-year-old Ryan Almeida at an apartment complex in Pawtucket.

Almeida was found bleeding from a gunshot wound to the stomach. He was lying on his mother's doorstep on the morning of Dec. 24. He was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police haven't disclosed a motive, but NBC 10 has learned that Almeida and Watts knew each other and had been at odds for some time.

Police said Watts admitted he was at the apartment complex on the morning of Dec. 24. According to court documents, investigators have video of two men shooting Almeida at his mother's apartment.

More than 20 of Watts's friends and family came to court to defend him.

Watts did not enter a plea Thursday during his arraignment at Providence District Court on charges of first-degree murder and conspiracy.

Watts is scheduled to next appear in Providence Superior Court on April 24.

Police said a 17-year-old boy also faces charges in connection with the killing. He was arrested on April 4 and charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy.
