Police are asking for the public's help searching for a man wanted in a robbery in New Bedford.

Police said a clerk at the Wash World Laundromat was robbed at knifepoint at about 11:50 p.m. Friday. She was not injured.

Police said the clerk was in the process of closing up for the night when she was approached by a man with a knife. He made her go back into the business. Once inside, police said the clerk activated the building's alarm. The man grabbed her bag and ran out. He was last seen running east on Cove Street.

Police said the bag contained some personal items and checks.

Police described the man as white, about 5 feet 5 inches tall with brown hair. He was wearing a turquoise and white plaid shirt over his head. He also had jeans and white T-shirt.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Tyrone Jones at 508-991-6300 ext. 134.
