PAWTUCKET, R.I. - Renovations to the former Old State Pier in Pawtucket are scheduled to begin on Thursday, April 10 and will last into the summer.
The Festival Pier construction site off School Street will require the area to be closed to the public until September 1, 2014.
The project is expected to cost $2 million and includes a new waterfront pedestrian plaza, parking areas, and a canoe/kayak launching area, as well as a new boat ramp.
The project was awarded to Northern Construction Service, LLC of Palmer, Massachusetts and is funded through a number of federal organizations, including the U.S. EPA.
