Roger Williams Park Zoo heads to the Outback

Posted: Updated:
PROVIDENCE - Roger Williams Park Zoo is going Aussie.

The new Outback Trail is scheduled to open on April 15, featuring gray kangaroos and wallabies.

The Trail allows visitors to enter a rustic cabin, cross a moat and then enter into the middle of the exhibit.  It is part of the Australasia section of the Zoo.

Pictured with Mario Hilario, Miley was born blind and now relies on her senses of smell and hearing.

Miley is a Parma wallaby, who is one of the Zoo's program animals and will not be inside the exhibit.

The wallabies in the exhibit are Bennett's wallabies.

The Outback Trail will be open to the public year round during normal zoo hours and is free with zoo admission.

The zoo is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. from April through September.
