Police release name of man struck, killed on Route 146

PROVIDENCE -

Rhode Island State Police said Wednesday that a tractor-trailer struck and killed a 28-year-old man on Route 146.

The crash happened at about 1:20 p.m. in the southbound lanes near Branch Avenue in North Providence.

State police said it appears 28-year-old David Salois, of Burrillville, parked a van in the breakdown lane and walked into traffic.

Salois man was taken to a hospital, where he died.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was shaken, but unharmed.

The Rhode Island Department of Transportation said the scene was cleared by 4 p.m.
