BARRINGTON, R.I. -
Barrington police are looking for the person who abandoned a dog in Haines Park.
The white husky mix was found in the pouring rain Sunday night tied to a guardrail, steps away from a dog park.
The dog is a neutered male in good health, and it's being cared for the East Providence Animal Shelter. According to the animal control officer, the dog is probably 7 or 8 years old.
Officers hope someone will recognize the dog so they can figure out who left him.
A note attached to the dog said he was either not good with children or nervous around them.
"Even though it was a vain attempt at trying to help the dog find somebody, you could have brought the dog to a number of different facilities to help find the dog a better home. That's why there's rescue," said Howard Lukoff, a dog owner.
Barrington police said the owners could face animal cruelty and abandonment charges. Anyone with information can call the anonymous tip line at 401-437-3930.
