Posted: Updated:

Fall River police said Friday that they're looking for a man who pepper-sprayed a woman who's eight months pregnant.

Police said the 22-year-old woman was treated at Charlton Memorial Hospital. They said her unborn baby appeared to be unharmed.

Police said the woman was attacked at about 3:50 p.m. Monday on Durfee Street by a man who was apparently trying to rob her. Police said the woman told them she had withdrawn money from a bank on North Main Street about 30 minutes earlier.

Investigators described the assailant as a white man in his 20s with a medium build. They said he ran toward Heritage Heights after dousing the woman with pepper spray. He did not take anything from the victim.

Fall River police asked anyone with information about the attack to call Major Crimes Detective Thomas Chace at 508-324-2796 or the anonymous tips line at 508-672-TIPS.
