A brother and sister from Taunton are facing charges for allegedly holding a mentally disabled woman against her will, drugging her and arranging for her to have sex for a fee.
Authorities say Peterson Raymond and Johanne Raymond were arraigned Thursday on charges including trafficking a person for sexual servitude, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, kidnapping and threatening to commit a crime. Both were held on bail after pleading not guilty.
The Bristol County District Attorney's Office told NBC 10 that the suspects met the alleged victim, who's in her 20s, online and held her in their First Street apartment.
"Taking advantage of a girl who is mentally unstable, doing it to anybody of course is crazy, but that's just low," said Phillip Machado, of Taunton.
Police told the Taunton Daily Gazette that authorities were alerted to the suspects when the alleged victim went to a hospital this week because she was "pretty beat up."
John Rideout lives nearby and said the entire incident is crazy.
"Who's to say somebody won't come up and do something to my girlfriend, you know?" he said.NBC 10 contributed to this report.
