BURRILLVILLE, R.I. -

The 7-year-old Burrillville boy who captured hearts of police and firefighters across the country had surgery Monday.

Tyler Seddon is fighting cancer. His family has been keeping everyone up to date on Facebook.

After surgery, his family says he was very uncomfortable and has been on morphine every two hours.  His platelets were also very low so he needed another transfusion.

Tyler celebrated his 7th birthday last week.

Firefighters and police from across the country came to Burrillville to help him celebrate.

Tyler was even named honorary police chief for the day.
