WARWICK, R.I. -

Warwick Police are investigating after a car hit a bicycle Friday night leaving the cyclist in critical condition.

The accident happened just before 10:30 p.m. in the 300 block of Greenwich Avenue, that's when police say that 44 year old Brenda Swenson, of Cranston collided with the 63 year old male cyclist who was taken to Rhode Island Hospital and is listed in critical condition.

Police tell NBC 10 that speed and alcohol were not factors in the crash and that according to the preliminary investigation the driver did not see the cyclist prior to colliding with him.

According to the police at this time it appears likely that charges will not be filed.
