Man charged with DUI in cruiser crash

Rhode Island State Police said a Providence man who struck a state police cruiser had a blood-alcohol content about 2.5 times the legal limit.

Paulo Ciprian Gutierrez was charged with driving under the influence and driving without a license. He was also wanted on an immigration detainer issued by ICE.

State police said Gutierrez, 35, sideswiped a parked cruiser on Potters Avenue at about 3 p.m. Thursday. State police said his BAC readings were .205 and .200.

No one was hurt.
