Preparations are already underway for the next round of winter's wrath that is headed the regions way on Monday, and some much needed relief came on Saturday when deliveries of road salt began to roll into Department of Transportation facilities.
According to the Rhode Island Department of Transportation International Salt, who is the supplier, was able to ship salt to Rhode Island from New Haven that began arriving on Saturday afternoon. The shipment helps the supply get closer to normal but it is still below its regular operating levels.
The Governor and the Rhode Island Department of Transportation are urging people to use caution when traveling and to anticipate hazardous road conditions.
A larger shipment of salt is scheduled to be delivered on March 6th , and in the mean time officials are urging people to try to refrain from unnecessary driving throughout the duration of the latest winter storm event.
