HARWICH, Mass. -

A teenager from Osterville was killed in an early morning car crash on Rt. 6 in Harwich.

Massachusetts State Police say the accident happened on the eastbound side, between Exits 9 and 10 around 12:45 a.m.

Troopers found a vehicle had rolled over and hit a tree on the right side of the roadway.

The preliminary investigation indicates an SUV operated by Michael Lawrence, age 18, was racing with a second vehicle prior to the accident.

The operator of the second vehicle, Adrian Sterling, also 18, of Hyannis, has been charged with reckless operation of a motor vehicle, speeding, and racing a motor vehicle.

Rt. 6 was closed for nearly 3 hours for accident reconstruction.

State police believe a third vehicle may have been in the area, that may have witnessed the circumstances leading up to the accident.

Anyone with information is asked to call the South Yarmouth Barracks at (508) 398-2323.
