Lookout in deadly Woonsocket bank robbery sentenced

Posted: Updated:

The woman who admitted acting as the lookout in a deadly 2010 bank robbery in Rhode Island has been sentenced to 15 1/2 years in federal prison.

Thirty-five-year-old Kelley Lajoie, formerly of Springfield, Mass., was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Providence Wednesday. She had pleaded guilty.

Lajoie was one of three people convicted in the killing of David Main. The gas station manager was shot to death outside a Woonsocket bank in 2010 as he was making a $12,500 deposit.

The case drew national attention after the gunman, Jason Pleau, became the subject of a fight over capital punishment between state and federal authorities. Pleau ultimately pleaded guilty and was sentenced to life without parole.

Getaway driver Jose Santiago got 40 years.
