Former Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling seems to have taken the first step in his battle with cancer.
Schilling reportedly underwent surgery Monday, just a week after sharing news of his diagnosis.
His son, Gehrig, tweeted out a photo of his dad in a hospital bed with the caption "Recovery". Schilling's daughter also tweeted about her father's procedure.
The type of cancer Schilling is fighting has not yet been reported.
Schilling currently works as an analyst for ESPN.
