State Police K-9 Bear passes away

SCITUATE, R.I. -

The Rhode Island State Police lost one of their beloved K-9 members on Thursday when he passed away unexpectedly.

The 12-year-old German Shepherd named Bear was a search and rescue canine that was handled by Acting Corporal Scott Carlsten.

In the statement that was posted on their Facebook page the Rhode Island State Police say that "K-9 Bear had a remarkable career and will be greatly missed."

The statement also talked about Bear's career with his handler saying "Acting Corporal Carlsten and K-9 Bear responded to many missing person searches and they were credited with safely locating many of them, including having assisted in locating human remains that were buried over 30 years ago 14 feet deep in the ground."
