Posted: Updated:
PROVIDENCE - The Providence School Board adopted a resolution calling for help from the city in keeping schools safe.

The board is seeking $50 million in school improvement bonds in order to replace some of Providence's 40 school buildings.

Several of the city's school buildings are more than 100 years old.

Board President Keith Oliveira calls the investment "critical" to the future of the school department.
