PROVIDENCE - A Woonsocket mother accused of illegally taking her 6-year-old son to Washington state and sparking an Amber Alert has pleaded not guilty to a charge of child snatching.

Andria Britt appeared in Providence Superior Court on Thursday. She was ordered held on $50,000 surety bail, ordered not to contact her son or his father, and ordered to undergo drug and mental health evaluations.

Britt was also considered a flight risk and ordered to wear an electronic monitoring device.

The 34-year-old Britt shared custody with the father. Prosecutors say she took Daniel Britt and drove him from Rhode Island to Tennessee and then to Washington state in violation of a court order.

An Amber Alert was issued after police said her medical records and other documents led them to believe the boy might be in danger.

Two days after the alert was triggered, she surrendered to authorities and waved extradition to return to Rhode Island.

The boy has been returned to his father, who was granted sole custody.

A lawyer for Britt mentioned allegations against Daniel's father, but no charges have been filed against him.

Britt is due back in court for a pretrial conference hearing Feb. 24.
