The NAACP's Providence branch and other community groups are calling for action against violence in the city.
The groups rallied outside the Garrahy Judicial Complex on Monday afternoon. A few dozen people participated.
The NAACP said unity is needed to quell a dangerous climate of tension and escalating violence among the city's young people.
Providence had its first homicide of the year on Friday, when a 24-year-old man was shot while sitting in a car. The killing followed another shooting earlier Friday that injured a teenager. Early Saturday morning, two men were critically injured in a shooting at the Karma nightclub.
No arrests have been made in any of the shootings.
Other groups expected at Monday's rally included Urban Men Against Murder and Teen Connect.
