Middletown man faces 10th drunken driving charge

A Middletown man faces his 10th drunken driving charge following a weekend crash.

John Brant, 49, was arrested and charged Saturday by a Massachusetts state trooper after Brant drove off the road and crashed into a stand of trees on Route 195 in New Bedford.

After Brant refused medical aid, troopers determined he was drunk and took him into custody.

Brant was charged with operating while under the influence, 10th offense, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and a marked lanes violation.

Brant was scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in New Bedford District Court.
