BBB warns of new Target scam

Posted: Updated:

Scammers are taking advantage of victims affected by the security breach at Target stores.

The Better Business Bureau is warning consumers not to share credit card and personal information.

Here's how the scam works.

You receive a text message, which claims to be from your credit card company.

It says your card has been blocked in response to fraudulent activity.

The message asks you to call a phone number to verify your account information.

This latest warning comes as Rhode Island's Attorney General joins the national investigation into the security breach at Target.
