Hit-and-run accident victim can't believe he survived crash

FALL RIVER, Mass. - Jonathan Perry said he can’t believe he survived a crash over the weekend.

“I don’t remember much. I was playing a show. Me and my brother have an acoustic duo band. We were playing a show at St. James Irish Pub in Fall River,” Perry told NBC 10 on Monday.

Then, Perry took a break from his gig.

“I really didn’t feel good and I went to the store and I don’t remember anything after that,” he said.

The accident happened at the corner of Albion and Bedford Streets. Police said several people fled the scene after the crash.

“After I saw (the crash), I couldn’t believe it was my car,” he said.

A friend texted the picture to Perry’s fiancee, Haylee Xavier.

“I wouldn’t think anyone would walk out of that. So it really scared me,” Perry said.

Police said they know the owner of the car that struck Perry’s vehicle, but not who was in it at the time of the crash.

“I don’t have any words for them. I really hope everyone there was OK. I’m an EMT. I just hope that they didn’t have any substantial injuries and just took off you know,” Perry said.

Although Perry has compassion for the others in the crash, he’s also baffled they just left him.

Witnesses said Perry was talking and walking after the crash, but he doesn’t remember any of it.

“I just remember them coming in and saying we have some bad news. We had some bleeding in your brain, and that they were going to put me on some anti-seizure meds. I was scared, you know,” Perry said.

While Perry’s fiancee focuses on his recovery, Perry said he’s just focused on finding those people who fled.

“If someone can call the Fall River police and give them details of what they look like so (detectives) can put something together. So they can hold somebody accountable,” Xavier said.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call police.
