Police seek new leads in jewelry theft

Posted: Updated:

Barrington police said Friday that they're trying to generate new leads in a theft at a book store.

Police said a woman stole about 160 pieces of Alex and Ani jewelry from Barrington Books on May 28. They have yet to identify her.

Investigators said the shoplifter had dark hair and that she was wearing black clothing. Surveillance video shows her putting the jewelry in her bag and leaving the store.

The jewelry was worth at least $5,000.

Police asked anyone who recognizes the woman from the picture or surveillance video to call Detective Benjamin Ferreira at 401-437-3930.
