Officers in a Providence courtroom forcibly removed a woman who lashed out Monday at the man accused of killing her son.

"It's not over, you coward! You killed an innocent boy!" Reina Rodriguez shouted.

Rodriguez exploded with anger and grief as her son's alleged killer, 34-year-old William Tate, appeared for arraignment on a fugitive from justice charge.

Her emotions continued outside the court after the hearing.

"You go and kill him in cold blood, and leave his body there in the middle of winter, just leave him dead," Rodriguez said.

Her son, 26-year-old David Rodriguez, was found shot to death outside the Ships' Cove apartment complex in Fall River early Sunday morning.

Tate, of East Providence, was arrested by Rhode Island State Police later on Sunday. Authorities have not yet commented on a motive or what may have led up to the shooting.

Rodriguez said her son had just gone outside when it happened.

"We were at my mother's house and he went downstairs, looking for his sister and he couldn't find her. And that guy was circling the building, looking for someone, and he shot my son," Rodriguez said.

She said Rodriguez was the oldest of three siblings and the father of three young children himself.

She said her son wanted to pursue a career in military or law enforcement before his life was cut short.

Rodriguez said she couldn't bear to sit through the court appearance.

"As soon as he said his name I had to get up. We've been through so much. We've been through so much," Rodriguez said.

Tate will be held without bail in Rhode Island until he's returned to Fall River on Wednesday to face a murder charge.
