The Woonsocket community is rallying around a young mother, who is fighting for her life.
The woman's boyfriend is due in court next month, charged with assaulting her.
At the Mane Spot Salon on Main Street in Woonsocket, the support for 24-year-old Cathy Salvi is evident.
The young mother is in a coma at Rhode Island Hospital, after allegedly being assaulted by her boyfriend earlier this month.
"I thought he was nice guy I thought they were going to be happy with the baby, they started out good, now this. I'm not a hateful person, but I hate him, I hope he rots," said Cathy's mother Mary Salvi.
Woonsocket Police have charged Emmanuel Algaria, 21, with felony domestic assault, which allegedly occurred at the couple's apartment in Woonsocket. Salvi's parents live downstairs in the same building, though they said they never heard anything that night.
"She's my little girl, she came to me for everything," said her father Ronald Salvi.
Now as they pray for their daughter, they also worry about their grandson, Salvi's 2- year-old boy with Algaria.
"Christmas day he cried and I had to put her pictures on the computer and let him look at them and all he did was keep kissing each picture on the computer," said Mary Salvi.
The Salvis say they are overwhelmed by the outpouring of support.
In addition to collecting donations on line, the salon is also selling bracelets and offering a portion of proceeds from certain services to help the family with medical expenses as Cathy fights for her life.
"You can donate, you can do whatever you want, but just keep praying, because it's not money I want, I want my baby awake, I want her to come home," said her mother.
And despite the odds, the Salvis are not giving up hope that will happen.
