Shoppers hit the stores for Super Saturday

CRANSTON, R.I. -

Lines of cars lead to hoards of shoppers on Saturday picking up those last-minute gifts at Garden City Center in Cranston.

Garden City management prepared for such an occurrence, making sure that the shopping experience went as smooth as possible.

NBC 10 talked to Joe Koechel, General Manager Garden City Center, about those preparations "we do everything from additional security to traffic control, police. We have additional staffing for our gift card business last minute shopping, gift card business is very, very heavy this weekend, and we have this unique Santa Shed."

The cash was flowing inside the shed and all around Garden City showing that the changes that have come to the Cranston shopping plaza this year have led to big business.

According to Koechel it is the busiest he has seen out of the four Christmases that he has worked at the center, telling NBC 10 "this is my fourth Christmas, and by far this is the busiest Christmas we've had; so a lot happening here, people are very, very excited here and next year will even be greater here with more stores opening."

So if you haven't done so yet, take advantage of that unseasonable warmth, and get buying; after all there are only three more shopping days left.
